In just a few short weeks these fragile blossoms will transform into succulent blackberries. Oh what a wonderful thing that is! In my part of the Ozarks blackberries don't seem to grow wildly out of control as they do in the Pacific Northwest. In the Northwest they grow so prolifically that people will drive past blackberry patches heavy with ripe berries while they are on the way to the store to purchase a basket of the very same berries!
It is not so here. The vines are polite and don't take over your yard. They are more of a treasure than a nusance. And, of course, they are delicious on ice cream!
